On Thursday 15th June South Devon Cricket Club have the honour of hosting a T20 match against Somerset CCC.
The match is being played as part of Max Waller’s 2023 Testimonial Year, a richly deserved reward for one of Somerset’s greatest ever T20 players.
To host such a game is a huge privilege for South Devon and it follows the hugely successful testimonial games for Peter Trego (2015), James Hildreth (2017), Marcus Trescothick (2018) and the fantastic Jockeys v Sporting Celebrities match at the Rec in 2016.
We are planning a day of celebration at the Club, to be enjoyed by all involved and the public alike, and which represents an opportunity to promote all that goes on at South Devon as well as all of the facilities and activities of The Rec. The event will be promoted widely throughout the South Devon area, including through the media.
From mid-afternoon there will be access to a VIP marquee with seating and a private bar and with buffet refreshments (served during the T20 match).
Around an hour before the match some of the Club’s Colts will demonstrate their skills on the outfield in a coaching session with players from Somerset. At around 5.30 the T20 match, and the promised sporting entertainment, will begin.
To ensure a day to remember a glossy souvenir programme is being produced to contain team photographs and information about South Devon, The Rec, & Somerset. The programme will be sold in advance of the day and will allow entrance to the ground.
